Definition of hero is different for different people. For children, heroes are identical to superheroes like Batman, Spiderman, etc. At school, heroes are people who defend the country like General Sudirman. For adults, heroes are for people who affect or impact us like parents, teachers, etc.
In summary, I think hero is an amazing person who defends what is right, carries pride to the country, and gives impact to people’s lives. In the end they shall be remembered throughout the years like Albert Einstein, Thomas Alfa Edison, etc.
So, who is Indonesian Hero?
This said-to-be small world, which has 194 countries, definitely has thousands of heroes. It will be unfair if I compare this country (Indonesia) to other developed countries which have excellent education quality and huge research budget like United States, England, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, and others. So, it will be fair enough to compare it to the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference) members, which has 57 countries as the members.
Within the OIC membership, Indonesia with the highest density where 87 percents of the people are Moslems with its fifth largest area after Kazakhstan, Sudan, Aljazeera, and United of Emirates.
The data of heroes stated in the OIC website (http://www.comstech.org) is 381 people for 10 field categories:
Following are the heroes from Indonesia:
So, who is the Indonesian seventh hero?
The above data shows that Indonesia as the most populated country, simply has 6 out of 381 heroes within the OIC members. This proves that in the eyes of Indonesian people, these achievements are not significantly proud enough. Can we say Indonesia has been one step closer to the Nobel Prize?
Show your heroic side by becoming the seventh hero (while the seventh hero is yet to be exist), and do not let ourselves to be someone who just wants to do the easy parts (merely using things but not knowing how to create them).
